Machines from 90 to 950 tons
We run 19 injection molding machines with tonnage from 90 to 950 tons. All of them are Mitsubishi machines, from compact ones to large white clamp units, all under bridge cranes, in a climate-controlled plant.
The machine that runs your part depends on its size, wall thickness and material. The large part guide explains how tonnage and shot size decide where a part can run.

What tonnage and shot size mean
Clamp tonnage is the force that holds the mold shut while plastic is injected. A part with a bigger outline, seen looking straight into the mold, needs more of it. Plastics Technology suggests starting near 3 tons per square inch of that outline, and anywhere from 2 to 10 depending on the material.
Shot size is the most plastic a machine can inject in one cycle, and the part plus its runner has to fit inside it. Our largest shot, 6,803 grams, is about 15 pounds of plastic. Between the two numbers, a part's size and weight decide which machines can run it.
Equipment beside the machines
Our machine-side equipment covers color, mold temperature and mold handling. Color is loaded right at the machine, molds are held at temperature by thermolators and chillers, and large molds are set with the overhead cranes.
Hot and cold runner molds and hydraulic core pulls let the same machines run simple parts and parts with side features, such as holes or threads that pull sideways out of the mold. The tool room keeps those molds maintained on site in Noblesville.
- Maguire auger loaders for color loading at the machine
- Hot and cold runner molds
- Thermolators and chillers for mold temperature
- Hydraulic core pulls
- Overhead crane system rated to 10 tons

Tool room equipment
CNC mills, EDM, wire, manual mills, manual lathes, surface grinders, radial drill presses and overhead cranes, with Haas CNC milling centers that run Mastercam programs. The tooling page covers what the tool room does.
